Dallas County Considers Residential Cleaning an “Essential” Business.
Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins has issued an order requiring all non-essential businesses to close down. This order is active from Monday at 11:59 pm, March 23rd until 11:59 pm on April due to COVID-19 pandemic. But which businesses are considered essential?
It’s clear that healthcare facilities, pharmacies, and grocery stores are essential. On the other hand, shopping malls, bowling alleys, and hair salons are not. The order states residential “cleaning and maintenance” is an essential business.
The order states “Essential Businesses” means “Essential Services Necessary to Maintain Essential Operations of Residences”. This includes “building cleaning and maintenance”. It further states “service providers who provide services that are necessary to maintaining the safety, sanitation…of residences and Essential Businesses.” You can see a small section of the order in the image below.
